At least five students from my Chess Online courses plus the Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies from UT Dallas (my boss!) and around 35 other people showed up for the 7:20 p.m. screening of Brooklyn Castle on Saturday, December 8, 2012. The audience clapped for the film as the credits rolled.
The post-film Q & A went well. I answered 20 questions before I thought I’d better say, “Just one more question” as I knew the theater had to be prepared for the final show of the night. The last question was, “What do you think is the main message of this movie?” I replied, “I agree with what I have heard director Katie Dellamaggiore say. Students will work hard and can succeed if their schools have resources. Support public schools and teachers.” Earlier questioners DID ask what had happened to the students in the movie. So my research paid off when answering those questions! The Brooklyn Castle film also is showing Sunday the 9th through Thursday the 13th at Cinemark West Plano.
