On October 22, 2010 Denton High School chess club members quickly settled into completing leftover ladder games, starting new games, or analyzing previously-played games. For analyzing previous games, students followed post mortem guidelines from pages 5-7 of People, Places, Checkmates: Teaching Social Studies with Chess.

Despite playing for almost the whole club time, two ladder games leftover from October 8 still need one more session to finish. One of the players involved asked what the world’s record was for the longest chess game. That player is ahead lots of material, but I guess he plans to take his time winning! More details are at the Denton High School Web site; search for Activities and then Chess Club.
