While some chess club members played for fun, the officers, Dr. Alexey Root, and chess club sponsor Fred Mueller planned for fall semester 2013. Curriculum was also planned through meeting nine.

September 6: First meeting; planning and PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.


September 13: Dr. Root teaches 1 e4 and Vanessa, chess club treasurer, teaches algebraic notation then PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
September 16: Bronco Night, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Chess club officers and Dr. Root run a math club/chess club booth for open house
September 20: Dr. Root teaches forks, pins, and skewers then PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
September 27: Alex, chess club president, teaches pawn structure then PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
October 4: Dr. Root covers, “What are the different ways to draw a chess game?” then PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
October 11: Notated chess game, with clocks
October 12: Scott Watson chess tournament
October 18: Participant from Watson tournament shows class his or her chess game then PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
October 25: Participant from Watson tournament shows class his or her chess game then PLAYING FOR FUN and ANNOUNCEMENTS.
November 1: Notated chess game, with clocks
November 2: Turkey Tournament
November 8: Meeting
November 15: Visit UT Dallas and Dallas Chess Club
November 16: Volunteering at International Games Day @ your library (North Branch Library)
November 22: Meeting
December 6: Meeting
December 13: Last meeting of the semester.
Match with UNT after UNT has its finals.
